Why is Aadhaar eKYC needed for a renewal?

This is the question we hear most — so, plainly: it's the government's requirement, not ours. Maharashtra's online registration (IGR) portal will not submit any agreement — new or renewal — until each party's identity is verified through Aadhaar. Because a renewal is registered as a fresh agreement, the same verification applies.

Government charges (stamp duty + registration) are set by law and are the same for a renewal as for a new agreement, because a renewal is registered as a fresh agreement. Our service fee is fixed and shown upfront.

Do both owner and tenant need to do Aadhaar eKYC for a renewal?
